This rig is used to punch holes and install micro duct from the edge of the sidewalk to the road with very minimal disturbance to the lawn next to the sidewalk. It requires a very shallow and short entrance trench approx 6 Inches deep and 24 to 30 inches long depending on the angle. The rig itself attaches to the sidewalk and does not require that stakes or anchoring devices be driven into the property owners soil next to the sidewalk
The trajectory of penetration has three settings. It can be set to open the hole perpendicular to the sidewalk or at a left or right forty five degree angle to the sidewalk. The angle of penetration can also be adjusted pitch downward from 4° to 15°. This allows the hole to be opened from a shallow hole on the edge of the sidewalk and then travel deeper to clear the bottom of the curb and gutter and exit into the micro trench or pot hole in the road. Then, without removing the point, a piece of mule tape or masonary line is attached to a very strong magnet and is then lowered into the exit point and attached to the metal point. As the shafts are extracted the tape or line is pulled into the hole which can then be attached to the microduct and installed.
